Abstract

Abstract Data from spike proteome analysis using Matrix Assisted Laser Dissorption lon isation -Ti m e of F.tight Mass lpectrometry (/vlALDtTOF-MS) were used to anatyze the proteomic differences among rnate and female ptants of piper longum (Thippati). The resulted spectra were converted into binary matrix consisting of protein data sets and genetic simitarity vatues were calcutated with the Free Tree software and Jaccard's Coefficient of Simitarity. The presence of certain proteins in the extracts was identified by checking their masses in online database. The presence of 2.8 kd and 15.g2 kd proteins in the femate ptants may possibty serve as a marker to identify femate poputations at the seedting stage and hetp ptanting with a balanced ratio of mate and femate ptants to achieve higher yietd from the productive femates. The present report on detection and presence of such proteins as markers in determination of.female ptants in Piper longum is first of its kind.
