Abstract

The accurate identification of frogs of the genus Fejervarya remains difficult due to poorly differentiated morphological and lack of molecular data. Accurate identification of species is fundamental to conservation efforts of biodiversity. The current paper describes the genetic relationships among four species of the genus Fejervarya based on partial sequences of the mitochondrial COI, Cyt B, 12S and 16S rRNA genes and sequence analysis revealed that all the four species investigated in this study were genetically distant from each other and exhibited good phylogenetic resolution. The present work will supplement and strengthen the taxonomic platform of the genus Fejervarya and also is only one contribution among others to the complicated problems posed by the cladistic relationships and taxonomy of this genus.
